That Ass Upstairs

For three months, this guy upstairs has been waking me up every morning between 6:30 and 7:30 am -- well before I need to get up.

A month and a half ago, I called Elma the building manager to ask him to put in some carpet or rugs (like the lease stipulates) so that when he's throwing his shoes on the floor and walking around in the hard soles and squeaking floorboards, it can hide the sound a little.

I don't think she did. She suggested that I slip him a note under his door, which I neglected to do... until it was too late...

I was working on something, like this:

Hi.

I live just below you.  I hate doing this, but for the last month or two, it seems that you've not had any carpet or rugs down in your apartment.  Every step is very loud down here.  Normally, it's not that big a deal, except in the mornings when you almost always wake me up.  Creaking floorboards, walking around in heavy shoes, dropping shoes on the floor.  I know it doesn't seem that loud to you, up there, but you'd be surprised by the noise it makes down here.  I only mention the thing about the carpets/rugs, because I know it's in the contract for the apartment building.  I'm not going to make a big deal, I just hope you can help me out?  Please, please, please?

Thanks, and sorry,

Anyway, night before last, Friday the 8th, he comes down HERE and buzzes my buzzer! It's Friday night at 9:30. I swear to God, it was not even 9:45. He comes down here fully clothed, holding a near-full beer and says, "Could you turn down the music, we're trying to sleep upstairs." I'm like, "Yeah, sure, sorry." Wishing moments later I had said, "Eat a dick." And then told him where I was coming from.

So, now he's got the one-up on me. He complained to me first. So, if I complain he'll just claim that I'm complaining out of spite.

I hate this guy, and that's not really fair. He bugged me for so long, but I never said anything, and he comes down -- fully clothed, with a beer, at 9:30pm, on a Friday night -- and says he's trying to sleep, turn it down!

We'll see what happens...
