CapucineJanuary always seemed the best month for suicide. Your holiday hopes blasted again, freezing cold, the loneliest month...

But she was really cool. And if you watch The Pink Panther (one of my favorite films, actually) she is like the straight man, she carries that film. She's married to Sellers, Wagner's got the hots for her and she's having an affair with Niven. That scene in her hotel room where the 3 of them go in and out is classic. It's a comic masterpiece scene that should be studied!

She was great friends with Audrey Hepburn, the two having met modelling in the 40s. Interesting is that Cap and Holden had a long affair and Holden was always in love with Audrey. Capucine was a witness to the 1969 wedding of Hepburn to Dr.Andrea Dotti in Lausanne, Switzerland, where she lived for many years until her death.

Capucine was a manic depressive and pal Hepburn actually had to talk Capucine off the ledge a couple times before she did finally take an eight story leap out of her apartment building in 1990 at the age of 57. Her obituary in the New York Times stated that her only known survivors were her three cats.

Her films include: Curse of the Pink Panther (1983), Trail of the Pink Panther (1982), Red Sun (1971), Fellini Satyricon (1969), holding her own amongst several of the most beautiful women in the world in What's New, Pussycat (1965), 7th Dawn, The (1964), Pink Panther, The (1963), Lion, The (1962), Walk on the Wild Side (1962), Hathaway's North to Alaska (1960) with Duke Wayne.

Despite returning to Europe in the late 60s and making films there, she did appear on American television in the 80s in an episode each of "Murder, She Wrote" and "Hart to Hart" with old pal Robert Wagner.
