Taken from the Sakari Lehtonen site: "Every fan of the older Bond movies knows Felix Leiter, Bond's CIA pal and main ally in the field for seven movies (Dr. No, Goldfinger, Thunderball, Diamonds Are Forever, Live And Let Die, The Living Daylights, and Licence To Kill). He was also a main character in six of the Fleming novels. In 1989, the scriptwriters tried to renew the Bond formula with Licence To Kill, something that did not quite succeed. Apart from being very violent for a Bond film, the movie included Felix Leiter getting fed to a shark by Franz Sanchez. This was a basic element in the plot with Bond seeking revenge to the villain. Unknown to many people, the idea was actually taken from the Fleming novel Live And Let Die in which Felix was also maimed in a similar way but left alive with a dramatic note on him. The only difference between the novels and the movies was that Felix actually returned in the novel Diamonds Are Forever, equipped with a fake leg and arm." As far as I know, it is Sakari Lehtonen who has started the "Bring Felix Back!" campaign. When I heard about it my support began immediately. I am setting up my own page in re. However, other than his/her page, Lehtonen has no links to the appropriate people to contact at MGM or what have you. We need to set to work on that. As Lehtonen tells you at his site, When GoldenEye came out in 1995, Felix was apparently replaced by Jack Wade (Joe Don Baker). This character, although not a buffoon, or stooge, comes off as routine comic relief, unlike Felix who was Bond's equal partner. This is why we want him back! He is not in The World Is Not Enough, but perhaps we can return him to work in Bond 20? Lehtonen created a banner with the slogan on it. "Feel free to add it to your site showing that you support Felix!" he says. Just copy and paste the following into your source code. Sites suppporting Felix: * Paul's Bond Page * Dynamic 007 Site * Cyber 007 World * Thomas 007-sidor * JW McFarland's 007 Page * Mikaels 007 Page * Robert Jones' Site * Fergus' Bond Page * Steevens' Bond Page * The 007 Empire (Not that many sites yet but I hope the number to increase...)If you want your site to be listed here, just e-mail Lehtonen with the URL! |
