I just saw Titus at the Lumiere. It's from a Shakespeare story all decked out Romeo + Juliet style. Worth noting, I think, that Jessica Lange will be 51 on Thursday and she looks pretty good. In fact she is briefly nude in the film. But enough of that.

Laura

Laura Fraser played Anthony Hopkins' daughter, Lavinia. Well, sometimes I am just taken with an actress. And here is another case of that happening. Very soulful eyes, but it's her mouth that I was particularly drawn to. It's quite near as perfect a mouth as a woman could have. Like sculpted.

Anyway, she's beautiful, and half way through the film -- Notice: skip to the next paragraph if you don't want some of the plot from Titus to be given away -- these dudes cut out her tongue and cut off her hands! Well, I was like, oh that sucks! But I was also sad because I thought that she'd die from such wounds or she would be mercy-killed or some such. But that did not happen, and we got to see more and more of Laura Fraser, all the way until the end of the movie.

Laura

I've seen her in Titus and Cousin Bette, but I don't remember her from that one. Now, following Titus with two TV-Movies -- albeit British -- is not what I call a smart move for a hot, young starlet. Who is her manager? Her dad?

I'm having some trouble locating much of anything at all on Laura Fraser. There are websites for a few of her films, but with surprisingly few photos of her or information on her. But I guess that's the way it is here at Person of the Week. We are but a launching pad for the careers of some.
