Religious Thoughts

Once upon a time there were people.  Then they made machines.  Then the machines killed the people because of capitalism.  Then the people became slaves to their machines.  Once upon a time there was Jesus.  He died.  On a cross.  Nailed to a wooden cross.  He died; yet was innocent of any wrongdoing.  He died for us.  For our sins.  Even though we hadn't been born yet.  All we had to do was live by rules not yet laid down.  We are poor, dumb sinners.  Always were; always will be.  We all come from Original Sin.  From a sin known as sex comes us.  You see Jesus didn't come from sex.  He's the only one.  The onliest guy ever.  God, his father, impregnated this woman.  And she had him.  Then he went around for about 25 or so years kicking around the Mediterranean, 'performing miracles', drinking wine, getting tossed in jail every once in a while on vag charges, I think.  Then they nailed him to a cross for denying allegience to some group or other.  Now, we, most Americans anyway, who if not Christian, at least came from someone who was, now we live according to this whole thing like it's true.  In fifth grade we learn about Zeus and Hera and Greek and Roman gods and laugh like how could they believe that?  Yet how can we really believe the Christ story either?  You say, hey you just gotta have faith.  Have faith in faith.  Have faith in God.  Why?  These are make-believe things.  It's hard enough for people to have faith in their friends and lovers, but at least they know these people and are basing their faith in something.  Yeah, it sure would be nice if when we 'died' our 'soul' went on 'living' for all 'eternity' in a 'heaven' with happiness and white clouds and sheets, harps, etc.  All you gotta do is pray allegiance (this time to the right guy) to Jesus, believe the Bible as truth and as 'the word of the lord' and live by it's assinine rules, and you get to go to heaven when you die.  So, it's okay if this life sucks, just muddle through and when you die you will be rewarded with eternity in heaven.  Hooray!  Or am I misinterpreting something somewhere?  Thoughts?

PS  Also, no offense is meant if I left your religion out; I think it's equally dumb, I assure you.  Also, no offense, if you actually take your religion seriously.  Love.
